You may think of spring cleaning as sorting through closets, laundering draperies, and doing some serious dusting. These are all important tasks, but they skip over many essential areas in your Kingman, Arizona, home. Include your home appliances in your spring cleaning routine and you’ll not only freshen up the home, but you’ll boost your energy efficiency as well.
Pull Out Your Refrigerator
Cleaning under and behind the refrigerator is a big task, but it’s something you need to undertake at least once a year. Pull the fridge out so you have access to the grimy square footage underneath. Thoroughly clean the floor where your fridge sits. Vacuum the refrigerator coils on the back of the fridge to remove additional dust and grime. Mix a cleaning solution made of half vinegar and half water to wipe down the top, sides, and front of the refrigerator.
Maintain Your Air Conditioner
Your air conditioner needs regular maintenance to stay in peak condition. You should schedule a tuneup once a year, ideally in the spring before you turn the air on for the first time. In between maintenance visits, you can do small maintenance tasks yourself. Change the filter once every one to three months. Keep an eye on the condenser outside and make sure the area around it is free of grass, leaves, and other debris that might hinder circulation.
Clean Out the Dishwasher
Your dishwasher is responsible for keeping your cooking and eating utensils clean, but when was the last time you washed it out? Remove the racks and wash them with warm water and dish soap. Fill the dishwasher’s detergent cup with white vinegar and run an empty cycle to clean out lime deposits. Clean the exterior by vacuuming the fan slats with a brush attachment and wiping down the door with water and dish soap.
