Sana Moezzi had a lot of boxes checked off on her way to success. Honor roll, aspiring violinist and president of two clubs. Check, check, check. But in November 2016, her life changed dramatically with a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. The Carlsbad, Calif., native would face months of chemotherapy and radiation. Cancer took away her ability to play classical violin. But rather than bowing to despair, she emerged from her fight with a new path.
Ambient Edge Heating/Air Conditioning & Refrigeration is proud to award its 2018 Students Affected by Cancer Scholarship to Sana, now a University of San Diego sophomore. The 19 year old has taken an inspiring journey from cancer patient to cancer patient advocate in a few short years. Along the way, she learned the life is too big for checked boxes.
Sana wrote: “During this time, I learned that no beauty shines brighter than that of a happy heart.”
In 2017, Make-A-Wish® San Diego sent Sana, her parents, Saied and Zorah Moezzi, her sister, Shayda, and a few friends to an all-expense paid weekend at the Coachella Music Festival, truly a teen-ager’s dream come true.
This gesture sparked a fire to give back. Sana became a Wish It Forward program ambassador and today is a Wish Granter herself. She recently granted her first wish — to an 8-year-old girl who wanted a pirate ship birthday party. She fundraises for cancer programs on the USD campus and has decided to dedicate her life to helping those in need.
“A wish is not only the experience of a lifetime, but gives hope — making the impossible, possible,’’ she wrote. This summer, she’ll grant three more wishes, two of the recipients share her diagnosis.
Ambient Edge is an award-winning business located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kingman, Arizona. This $1,000 scholarship meant to help students move beyond their medical struggles.
