A spring tune-up on your air conditioning unit is a mandatory part of home ownership in Las Vegas. When the desert temperature rises, you have a lot riding on the cooling relief from your home’s central air unit. Preventative maintenance could be the one thing that ensures you and your family will avoid a breakdown during the hottest months – something that would be not only inconvenient, expensive, and frustrating, but also potentially dangerous.
The air conditioner in your home is not only an investment; it’s part of the circulatory system of the body of your home. What are the steps necessary to keep this vital organ – and important investment, functioning year in and year out?
Steps in a Las Vegas A/C Tune Up
Have you ever wondered what steps the air conditioning technician actually takes when servicing your unit during a spring turn-up? With each air conditioning unit being slightly different in terms of how they age, how does an Ambient Air tech know what to look for when running diagnostics on each unit?
We’ve developed our process over many years and countless service calls. Today, the experienced Ambient Edge team has a multi-step inspection, cleaning, and measurement process that looks for problems in your air conditioner well before they occur. When we arrive at your home, we start with the thermostat to be sure it’s cycling properly. Then we’ll move to the air conditioning unit itself.
Our air conditioner repair service process includes:
- Inspecting all moving parts
- Lubricating all moving parts
- Checking the refrigerant level and recharging if needed
- Analyzing and calibrating the thermostat
- Inspecting the blower assembly
- Checking all wires for corrosion, dirt, and rust
- Testing fuses
- Reviewing the contactors, relays, and pressure controls
- Inspecting the indoor blower and motor for dirt and corrosion
- Monitoring the condensate drain
- Visually analyzing the outdoor coil
- Inspect duct seal at unit and secure panels
- Tightening any loose connections
- Cleaning and changing the air filter
At the beginning and end of this process, the Ambient Edge technician will run and test your system to ensure its function. The entire process will take about 45-minutes. We highly encourage you to follow us throughout this process and ask any questions you may have.
Now, when was the last time you heard that from a contractor?
One piece of advice: Don’t be tempted by low-cost radio or TV ads from contractors you aren’t familiar with. Beware of fly-by-night contractors that offer anything less than this checklist. While they may have a cheaper price when it comes to your air conditioner you simply cannot afford to cut corners. When it’s 110 outside, do you really want to take a chance on a cut-rate price – and a cut-rate process?
Don’t take our word for it – here’s a good Angie’s List article that will help you understand the importance of a good Las Vegas A/C tune-up.
